Narcissa Davis

F, #148, b. between 1794 and 1800, d. circa 1835
Narcissa Davis was born between 1794 and 1800, The 1820 census indicates she was born between 1804 & 1794 and the 1830 census indicates her birth as between 1810 & 1800. Since she was married in 1815 and was probably at least 15 at that time, her birth is being set as between 1794 and 1800.1,2 She and Alfred Sharp married on 20 January 1815 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.3,4 Narcissa died circa 1835 Diary entry states that Alfred died in 1835 or 36 (elsewhere in the diary he gives 1837/38) and that Narcissa died a year or two before he did. However, their last child Adaline was apparently born in 1834 according to 1850 census. So a death date of 1835 was determined for Narcissa. in Cotton Grove, Madison County, Tennessee.5 She died consumption.6

Manuscript from Elmira Louisa Sharp Crocket, dau of Marcus LaFayette Sharp, granddaughter of James & Rachel (Cannon) Sharp giving the births, marriages and deaths of James and Rachel's children (Louisa's aunts and uncles) along with other family history. Also a 1952 notarized statement by Carmen Sharp, a grand niece of Louisa, stating that she knew Louisa during her lifetime and that the manuscript was from Louisa's personal knowledge of her brothers, sisters and grandparents. Also that Carmen was given the manuscript by Louisa's son, Rev George L Crocket in 1930. Some handwritten notes on the typewritten pages are obviously made by Carmen Sharp. She identifies her relationship to some of the people and/or what she knew them as. She also noted some of their death dates and ages at death. For instance, beside James Henry Sharp she noted that he was a Dr. and identified him as 'my grandfather'.4 After her marriage she was normally known as Sharp.
